Adventures of Bombquisha

ADVENTURES OF BOMBQUISHA VOL. 1. Episode 1.

Bombquisha is from the South End of Seattle. She lives on Henderson Street where the old cracked out V.P. apartments burnt down and is now a newly developed town house community. Still in Rainier Valley there is always trouble. Just because it is now masked in flowers, new trees, developments, white people, and coffee shops it still has the essence of the hood that will forever linger in the South End. Right across the street she can still see the school that she had loads of fights in, skipped classes to smoke weed, and where she had her most favorite time reading. She's always wanted to leave the South End, but she was still connected to the place. The South End had everything. It had beautiful parks that were surrounded by the lake infested with geese droppings. There was Seward Park a diverse upper middle class community built of beautiful homes some had the lake as part of the back yard. Seward Park is Bombquisha’s dream.

Although Bombquisha was infatuated with having the nice comfortable lifestyle, she had a mediocre life which she loathed, a cheating live-in boyfriend, dead end job and piles of unpaid bills. Bombquisha was a clerk at the local grocery store called Big Bear which was only two blocks away from her house. She’d worked til 11p.m. almost every day because someone wouldn't show up for work. She was the hard working honest type she stayed and helped out. The only thing that made her happy was that the store had a Starbucks in it and Clover always had a caramel macchiato waiting for her when she finished locking up the store. Clover was in his mid-thirties, tall chocolate colored guy, shiny onyx eyes, broad shouldered, bright smile, smart and he was secretly in love with Bombquisha. The only reason he even worked at Starbucks was because he wanted to be near Bombquisha, he loved seeing her face every day.

"Hey girl, you look like you could use one of these." He smiled as her handed her the warm coffee.

"Yeah thank you, I am so tired of these motherfuckers here man. I swear they are always leaving me here to close up and shit. I can't complain because I do have a job, right?" As she sipped her coffee.

"Yes, you can't complain, but then again you can. I see you work hard and they take advantage of that. At least you have me to make your coffee."

"Yeah" she sheepishly said. "I think I am the only one who cares about this job anyways, but I am ready for something new in my life. I want to go to school or something. I want to be in a place where I can help people ya'know?"

"I know, you have too many smarts and talent for you to be in this place, but I think you're only here because you are afraid of leaving the South End." Clover cautiously said.

She side-eyed him before she spoke. "What the fuck you mean by that?"

"Well when's the last time you been downtown?"

"Umm, why would I go downtown, everything is here?"

"My point exactly." He smiled again.

"What's downtown anyways?" Her curiosity peaked.

"Well, for one I live downtown. There are restaurants, movies, museums, bars, and the beautiful Puget Sound." He said in his proudest tone.

"You live downtown? Why do you work so far? And how come you can't get a baristo job over there?" she annoyingly added.

"Yep I live on 2nd and Vine Street in a beautiful studio apartment. I can get a job as a BARISTO, but I prefer working over here." he snapped.

"Again, why the hell are you here if you can get a job over there." Bomquisha retorted.

"Because I find myself staring at the most beautiful things here." Clover's voice was deep and smooth as silk and he was looking Bombquisha straight in the eye. Usually she would have a whole lot to say but she couldn’t even find a good curse word to say. She felt her heart speed up. No doubt Clover was fine, but she couldn't even believe that he was into her. She did what she does best. She ran. Of course she said goodbye to him she wasn't a total rude ass female.

Once she bolted out of the store building and into the crisp night air she felt safe. She slowed herself down to take in the night air. Even though she was only two blocks away from her townhouse she wasn't trying to get there anytime soon. She took the scenic route and found herself back in the park where she grew up, smoking a doobie and reading her favorite novel Wild Seed. The night was still, her bags at her feet and the moon high in the sky was her light while she read. It was then a huge bolder hit her sending her flying through the air, landing hard on her back knocking her out.

She woke up to the sound of her cell phone ringing. Dazed and confused she sat up to see a pickup truck sized rock in front of her. She looked around to see if anyone else was around and there was no one in sight. The moon glazed the rock and it shined a sparkle red. Her phone kept ringing and she picked up. "Hello?" her voice cracked.

"Hello Bombquisha were you sleep? Anyway, this is Carl. Can you be at work tomorrow at 8am?" He waited.

"Umm Carl..." She began.

"Ok thanks, see ya tomorrow." As the phone clicked off she looked at her phone and realized it was 2:30am. "Oh shit!" She grabbed her things and ran towards her house. She opened the door frantically. Once she got it opened she called for her boyfriend Jackson. She ran into the living room where she thought he would be playing video games but he wasn't there. She screamed for Jackson again looking throughout the house and he wasn't anywhere but she did frown at the messy kitchen he left for her.

Figuring that he was sleep she ran up the stairs towards the bedroom and pushed opened the door and froze. There was Jackson sound asleep arms wrapped around another woman. That other woman was her so called friend Jacinda. Her heart sank, not that he was cheating, but who he cheated with. Jacinda and Bombquisha were supposed to be thick as thieves, homies for life, do or die friends but now in her own bed they were both peacefully asleep, naked. The room reeked of after sex and weed. The sadness in Bombquisha’s stomach turned into hot boiling uncontrollable anger.

“YOU BITCH ASS MOTHERFUCKING ASSWIPES WAKE THE FUCK UP!” She yelled. Only she didn’t yell her voice came out like ten million bullhorns at one time. Her voice was so loud to her amazement it cracked the walls. Jackson and Jacinda both jumped up surprised to see Bombquisha.

“Babe…what the hell…Oh shit! I’m so sorry, so sorry, baby please forgive me.” Jackson said clutching onto the blanket coming towards Bombquisha. Bombquisha came towards him to push him back and instead the force of her push sent him flying towards the wall, knocking him out. Jacinda jumped up.

“You crazy bitch, this is why he doesn’t want your black ass no more, you’re always hitting him!.” Jacinda screamed. Bombquisha was so stunned at what she did that she forgot that Jacinda was there. Bombquisha turned towards Jacinda and as Jacinda was fixing to open her mouth again, fire came from Bombquisha’s hand and hit Jacinda. Jacinda’s weave started aflame and she screamed running past Bombquisha into the bathroom slamming the door.

“That’s what you get you ratchet ass BEEOTCH!!!” Bombquisha, satisfied at her amazing strength the adrenaline began to wear her down as fast as it came and she buckled. She began to cry uncontrollable tears. Whatever happened in that moment it scared her and through Jacinda’s muffled ‘I’m calling the police, bitch!’ screams Bombquisha knew she had to leave, but she had nowhere to go. All she could think about was Clover.

After throwing up three times on the corner of 4th Ave and Wall Street, Bombquisha made it to downtown. It was early about 4 am in the morning and she was dirty and tired. She remembered that Clover said that he lived on 2nd and Vine, but she didn’t know what building, she headed there anyways. She got to 2nd Ave and Vine only to be confused there were three different apartment buildings on the same street. She figured since they were all nice buildings they should have the names on the buzzard and went to the first building she seen. Clover’s last name was Wilkinson and the first place she went to was the right place. She frantically buzzed Clover apartment and waited. He was taking too long so she started buzzing again, through her frantic buzz she heard his sultry voice and immediately she was calm.

“Heeellooo why are you buzzing so much?” He cheerfully asked.

“Clover it's Bombquisha, can you buzz me up.” Sobbing through her tears.

“Yeah, baby the apartment number is 5C.” When Bombquisha got there she was greeted with a smile and then a frown. Clover who towered over Bombquisha grabbed her face lifted her chin and wiped away her tears. She was getting ready to speak when he cut her off.

“Shh, don’t talk now, just come inside and I’ll run you a bath, then put you in the bed and you can tell me after you’ve rested.” She nodded and for the first time did what she was told without any talk back.
